The Implementation Process

Implementing Strategic Plans is remarkably difficult.  Distractions abound.  Minds change.  Deadlines get missed.  Turf gets protected.  Without a strong commitment to managing the Implementation process, most Plans fail, no matter how brilliantly they might be written.

Implementation requires accountability.  Discipline.  Regularly scheduled update meetings.  Goal tracking.  And, cross-functional co-operation, since virtually every strategy ever devised effects multiple functional areas of an organization.  That means people have to both communicate with each other and work together for the common good.  And, recognize that if one succeeds, they all succeed.  Implementation is most assuredly not a zero sum game.
